Mesquite Golf Courses
The golf courses are always the stars of any Golf Mesquite Nevada vacation. Mother nature and some very talented golf course architects created some of the most stunningly beautiful, challenging, and fun courses in the world. Let’s take a closer look!
The Canyons Course At Oasis Golf Club
The Canyons Course is considered “player-friendly at 6400 yards. When discussing all Mesquite Golf Courses, you’ll see us refer (many times) as to how they blend with mother nature. We think this is one of the things that make Mesquite so special. The Canyons course is a perfect example of how the holes fit with nature. Several of the holes seem to sit in the middle of their own personal canyons. It’s hard to pick a signature hole, but most consider the number 17 par 3 to be the one. It plays 180 yards from the tips and 139 from the forward tees. There’s a significant elevation difference between the tee box and the green below, so clubbing this hole takes some careful thought.
Coral Canyon Golf Course
The reputation of having been ranked in the Top Ten Best Courses You Can Play, sets the stage for what we have to say about Coral Canyon. Sitting just northeast of Mesquite in the southwest corner of Utah, this course is also consistently ranked in the top 5 courses in Utah. You’ll begin your round with 2 par 5s, to reach some of the most stunning red-rock formations you can imagine. The signature hole (number 6) at Coral Canyon is once again a par 3. It plays from a far as 175 yards to as short at 65 yards to an island green. Just get your tee shot on the putting surface, you you’ll be fine.
This Jack Nicklaus Signature gem comes with a true test of your golfing skills from 7471 yards. But, with 4 sets of tees, you can play it as short as 5349 yards. As with any course we play as amateur golfers, picking the right set of tees for your level of skill is the best way to have a rewarding round of golf. Check out this resume: Coyote Springs was recognized as the #2 Best New Courses in the U. S. by Golf Digest, #3 Top 10 Best New Course You Can Play by GOLF Magazine, one of the Best Golf Courses of 2008 by Links Magazine and one of the Top 10 New Courses in the World by Travel & Leisure Golf. Get the message? This is a MUST play! The signature hole at Coyote Springs is the par 4 number 13 that plays 424 yards from the tips and 325 from the forward tees. Make sure you hit the green on your approach…that’s all we’re going to say about that.
Falcon Ridge sits above Mesquite and offers some dramatic elevation changes from tee to green. Its a par 71 that can play as long as 6550 yards. Once again, choosing the right tee box for your skill level is extremely important here. Trying not to be too repetitive, but the scenery is unbelievable! Most golfers score better on the outward 9 than on the inward 9. The signature hole at Falcon ridge is the stunning 575 yard number 12 par 5. There’s a 120 feet of elevation change between your tee shot and the landing area…that lies between 2 lakes. This is one of those holes where “smart golf” is a must. Driver off the tee is usually not pretty. Plan on hitting the preferred landing area, laying up, then hitting your approach…or card a big number, whichever your prefer.
The Palmer Course At Oasis
The name says it all. Anytime Mr. Palmer’s name is on a course you already know it needs to be on the itinerary. The Palmer Course has been ranked as “One of the Best You Can Play” by Golf Digest. It also is consistently ranked as one of the best golf courses in Nevada. With 5 sets of tees, this par 71 jewel of the desert can be a stern test from any position. The gorgeous emerald green fairways against the rugged canyon walls makes concentrating on golf a little challenging. This course is so beautiful, it has 4 signature holes. Perhaps the most picturesque is the number 7 par three that measures 162 yards from the back and 117 from the forward tees. Your tee shot actually plays over a large ravine. It’s best (if you’re going to miss) to miss to the right.
Sand Hollow Resort’s Championship Course is a par 72, 7300 yard Southern Utah beauty. Mother nature (once again) ruled the layout of this course. There are red rock outcroppings, indigenous sand bunkers, natural vegetation, rolling fairways, and dramatic elevation changes across a towering ridge line. Course designer, John Fought said, “Every hole is a tough birdie, but an easy bogie, so players of all levels will enjoy playing again and again.” The signature hole at Sand Hollow is the number 15 par 3 that plays 215 yards from the back and 155 yards from the forward tees. No need to get fancy here….play to the center of the green and take the par, or you could be looking for your ball at the bottom of the cliffs.
There are several other Mesquite Golf courses we’ll cover later on, but this selection gives you an idea of what lies ahead on your next Mesquite golf trip. Golf Mesquite Nevada offers a great selection of services to fit any group at the best deals available for golf and lodging.
